Glen Star IRE 785

Glen Star was born in 1939 and she lived in Glenicmurrin in the more easterly parts of Connemara. She was a fairly small (132 cm) bay mare and one of the few daughters by Paddy. She had two daughters of whom the first, Tully Star, was the one to carry on the family. Tully Star was born in 1949 ans was a dun mare, a couple of centimeters higher than her dam and over the years she gave birth to five daughters and a son.

Tully Star's first daughter, Star of Tully, has without doubt been the one who has been most important to the family. Her oldest daughter, Bridget of Oakleigh, came trough England to Sweden. She was never entered in the Swedish stud book, but had three foals of which the daughter Esmeralda was entered in the stud book and had no less than 13 foals. Among Esmeralda's descendants you can find her sons Esmagnac and Kläringe Escort who have both competed successfully in show jumping and Esmagnac has also had some success dressage. Esmeralda's granddaughter Fair Finesse has also competed in show jumping. In the show ring you will find the grandson Cream Cake who won his class at the 2001 breed show and the daughter Es-Cassandra, gold awarded at the 1995 breed show.

The next daughter of Star of Tully was Queen of Tully, born in 1968. She only had three registred progeny. There were hopes that her son, Ardnasillagh Casey, would be the one to carry on the Mountain Lad stallion line, but he died at the age of four with only a few offspring sired. Instead it was daughter number two, Sea Bird, who became the most important of Queen of Tully's progeny, and through Sea Bird's daughter Barna Rover that we find the next connection to Sweden. Her great granddaughter Beezies Bounty was exported to Sweden and she became a brood mare at the Lofty studs. In the show ring she has been awarded several golds crowned by a Supreme championship at the 2003 breed show and she has been given an Elite premium for her successful progeny. Among her offspring are gold awarded Lofty Caitriona, Lofty Ciàra (reserve supreme Champion at the 2002 breed show and exported to Denmark) and Lofty Sparkling Julia (reserve supreme Champion at the local show in Ängelholm in 2007). Sparkling Julia, Lofty Abigail and Ciàra are all diploma mares (and Ciàra is a class 1 mare in Denmark) and Abigail, Sparkling Julia and Lofty Tiger Woods have all double awards from the three-year-old tests. Add to that a silver and a bronze medal from the Swedish driving championships for Sparkling Julia and a gaits award at the quality test for Tiger Woods.

Moorpark Daisy, grandmother of Beezies Bounty, has, in addition to Bounty, Beezies Moon and Beezies Comet, and a grandson, Beezies Cloud, in Sweden. Beezies Comet and Beezies Moon have both competed successfully in both show jumping and eventing and Comet also in dressage. In 2002 Beezies Moon was the tenth best eventing Connemara, in 2004 he was ranked number five with Comet just behind on place seven and Comet repeated his seventh place the following year. In 2005 Beezies Moon was third in the Swedish Connemara show jumping championships. A sister and a brother of Moorpark Daisy have also been exported to Sweden. The sister, Dangan Rover, came here in 1990 and had two sons here that I have no further information about. The brother Alfons Owen was shown at the 2005 breed show where he took a strong silver with 39 points.

After two foals by Kilgreany Lad Sea Bird had the daughter Sea Mist who was exported to Belgium where she had foals at the Klover Hill stud. After Sea Mist followed two foals who were named Sea Bird 2nd and Seabird 2nd respectively. It does seem, however, to be two different ponies as they are registred with differend birth years and different sires. Sea Bird 2nd is the dam of the Swedish export Sorcha who has a foal here, Royce Samir. Seabird 2nd in turn has a foal who was third at the Clifden show foal class. Among her other progen are her stallion son Jack's Promise and her daughter Silver Star V who in turn is the dam of Springfield Cool Breeze who was best colt foal and reserve foal champion at the 2004 Clifden show. Seabird 2nd was later exported to the UK where she became a brood mare at the Riversdale stud. Her 2001 foal, Riversdale Sea Bubble, won the filly foal class at the Brittish breed show.

Sea Bird's 1991 foal was a filly who was given the name Storm Bird and her granddaughter Lucky Pearl was exported to Sweden and last year she was given a gaits award at the three-year-old test at Nossebro. Storm Bird's full sister Lenarecagh Meall Glas also deserves a mention as the grandmother of Glanmore Lillian, dam of the 2007 foal champion at Clifden show.

Star of Tully's second youngest daughter was exported to the Netherlands where she was given a ster award. Tully Star's other progeny have also helped spreading the family to different countries. In Denmark we find the daughter Tully Cottage, but without any offspring as far as I can find. Another daughter, Glen View Star, seems to have been exported to France. Tully Star's son, the stallion Island Knight, was exported to Germany where his name was promptly translated and he was renamed "Inselritter". He doesn't seem to have been much used as a sire. Tully Star's daughter Tully Treasure also went to Denmark where she had a couple of progeny whith the Minell prefix. Tully Star had her last daughter at the age of 21. Enid as her name was came to Sweden at the age of two. Here she was renamed Silky Fluffy. She was never entered in the Swedish stud book, but after a couple of years she had yet another name change, this time to Silky Star and with this name she was a successful show jumper during the first half of the 1980ies.
